DCCCA began operating as Douglas County Citizens Committee on Alcoholism in Lawrence, Kansas

September, 1978

Services in 6 counties in addition to Douglas County, Kansas

January, 1981

New program - Kansas Community Alcohol Safety Action Project funded by Kansas Department of Transportation

October, 1981

Douglas County Drug Abuse Council merged with DCCCA

Late 1981

Added facility based alcohol and drug treatment programs in correctional facilities

1988

New program - Governor's Center for Teen Leadership

1989

Name changed to DCCCA, Inc.

1991

New program - Women's Recovery Center in Topeka

1992

New program - Women's Recovery Center in Wichita

1993

New programs - Women's Recovery Center in Hoisington and Day Reporting in Wichita

Youth Leadership Development Project

Mergers with Recovery Services Council (Wichita) and First Step House (Lawrence) New Program - Sedgwick County Family Preservation Services

2000

Expanded Family Preservation Services to cover half the state of Kansas. Foster Care Services were also added.

Merger with Elm Acres

First Step House, Lawrence and Women's Recovery Center, Topeka are combined into First Step at Lake View in Lawrence

Women's Recovery Center Kansas City opens in Lenexa
