The Summit brings together the network of Chronic Disease Risk Reduction grantees from across the state alongside local health coalition members and other advocates for public health, prevention and health equity. The goal is to inform and inspire existing CDRR grantees and introduces potential CDRR applicants to the program. Grantees and staff are also encouraged to invite their partners and/or coalition members to attend.
Summit Details
Day 1: Built specifically for Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) grantees. Grantees will dive deep into topics such as effective application writing, data evaluation and communication.
Day 2: Starting with an inspiring keynote speaker, followed by dynamic breakout sessions aimed at improving the health of Kansans. We will also celebrate the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations during the Governor’s Council on Wellness Health Champion Awards ceremony and conclude with an informative keynote presentation.

Breakout Sessions:
Youth Tobacco Trends – “What we know & what is being done” CDC and partners will discuss youth tobacco use and trends.
Food Systems Panel – Panelists from several organizations will discuss the importance of equitable access to healthy, affordable food, and share steps that communities can take at the local level to strengthen food systems and help fight hunger.
National Jewish Health: What’s New – Presenters will share enhancements to the My Life My Quit website, discuss Lung Cancer Screening Project, and the future of tobacco Quitline’s.
Communities in Action – Wyatt Beckman from KHI hosts this panel conversation which will bring community leaders from 3 CDRR counties to share how their communities have collaborated to build trust and make meaningful change through stories of working together and overcoming barriers.
