At the OkCARE Legislative Breakfast Award Ceremony on February 19, 2019 Donna Keller, DCCCA Tallgrass Family Services Foster Home, was awarded the Direct Care Service Award Recipient.
This is what the DCCCA Tallgrass Family Services team has to say about Donna and her work with foster kids in Oklahoma:
“Donna Keller is loving, patient, and above all else an advocate. She is a single parent of 6, one of which she adopted through foster care. She has a strong working relationship with her counseling agency and the local school. Through this Donna is able to better care for all children in her home. She ensures not only that their educational and mental health needs are met but also the need to be active and feel like part of a family. As a group the family of 7 attends karate and church weekly and of course they each have their own independent activities such as piano lessons, band, cheerleading, basketball, and many others. Donna is fully devoted to every child that comes into her home. She ensures they are dressed well, learn manners, have a voice in the menu, and of course help with chores. It’s often a question of how a single woman is able to organize and meet the needs of 6 children ranging in age from 6 to 17. Somehow each day she succeeds. Foster Children are Donna’s passion. She is devoted and wants to do all that she can to give these children a better life while they are with her.”
Thank you, Donna, for your commitment to children in the Oklahoma foster care system!
