DCCCA, Children’s Mercy Kansas City and Engage Douglas County will host a virtual training for parents and caregivers to help prevent tragedies from happening within our homes. Prepped and Ready: Parenting into the Teen Years prepares caregivers for the transition into parenting teenagers and address issues before they become problematic. The virtual training is scheduled for Wednesday, January 13 from 7–8:30 p.m.
“Some of the best caregivers in the world face really challenging periods with their children. Being a good caregiver does not make our kids immune to tough times,” Children’s Mercy Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Shayla Sullivant, MD said. “These are changes we can make and steps we can take to make our homes safer and our community healthier.”
This training will empower parents with information on a variety of topics including self-care, eating disorder prevention, screen time, substance use (including vaping), suicide prevention and home safety (including safe storage of firearms, medications, etc.). Limited reservations are available. Registration
