The DCCCA Tuition Assistance Fund was established to assist full time employees who desire to continue their formal education. The Board of Directors reviews Tuition Assistance requests in March and October. Awards are designed to reimburse employees for school related expenses incurred including tuition and/or books.
Qualifications
To qualify for tuition assistance applicants must meet the following criteria –
- Must be employed with DCCCA for one year
- Must be seeking a degree that is directly related to their employment with
DCCCA - Must be willing to make a one year employment commitment to DCCCA from
the date the semester ends - Must be in good standing and receive a recommendation from their
immediate supervisor for the tuition assistance award.
Application Process
Any full time DCCCA employee enrolled at an accredited college or university may apply for a tuition assistance award by submitting an application form. The Board of Directors will determine award amounts by the degree being sought by the applicant or a single class.
- College class $100.00
- Associate Degree $250.00 (requires 2-3 classes)
- Bachelor Degree $500.00 (requires 2-3 classes)
- Master Degree $750.00 (requires 1-2 classes)
Any current expenses that are covered by an educational grant will not be eligible for the award. Educational loans do not constitute a grant.
Applications for the Spring semester are due by April 30, 2017. Applications should be submitted to the attention of the Chief Financial Officer, 3312 Clinton Parkway, Lawrence, KS 66047.
Tuition Assistance Review
The Board of Directors meets semi-annually to review all Tuition Assistance applications. Priority is given to those employees pursuing their first degree. At the Board of Directors’ discretion, DCCCA may or may not provide annual tuition assistance awards for any given semester.
The number of awards will be determined each year based on the number of applicants.
Reimbursement of Tuition Assistance Award
If employment is terminated for any reason prior to the one year commitment, the individual will be responsible to reimburse the tuition assistance award. If the one year commitment is not fulfilled, the employee will be required to reimburse the amount of the scholarship award on a pro-rated basis.
If an employee is terminated or is involved in a reduction-in-force, the individual will not be required to reimburse the scholarship award.
